Special presentations:

Poet Kenneth L Woods or KennyFresh author of the book Equilibrium will present Paint with Words an all-ages program from 12 pm - 1:30 pm. He has performed in the Midwest as well as in various states throughout the U.S. His well-traveled experience as a child, Hawaii born with naval parents, influenced his ability to adapt, refocus, and reconnect. Ironically, that is what his writing service and performance art company, Refresherpoint, is all about… refreshing perspectives through the power of words, language, and art.

Woods spoken word has traveled also and has been featured at an international conference in Athens, Greece. You may have experienced his poetry on the radio, through televised collaborative performances, or in person at a range of award-winning venues, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions. You can read more about Kenneth Woods' work on his website

Our second presentation will be at 2:30 pm, with author and illustrator Rob Harrell. Harrell wrote and drew the syndicated daily comic strip Big Top through 2007 and currently creates the long-running strip Adam@Home.

He also wrote and illustrated the graphic novel Monster on the Hill, published by Top Shelf and Life of Zara, published by Dial Books for Young Readers. Harrell also wrote the funny and heartfelt book Wink, a story of Ross Maloy, a seventh-grader dealing with a horrible diagnosis and cancer treatments – all while trying to just blend in and survive middle school.

As an illustrator, Harrell has worked with clients including Mad, Simon and Schuster, American Greetings, Time, Inc. and Volkswagen. His figurative paintings have been shown in solo shows in San Francisco, Austin and Indianapolis.
