Attention Lincoln Township Residents

The Monticello-Union Township Public Library is pleased to announce that we have received a $1,000 grant from the Community Foundation of White County to assist with easing access for Lincoln Township residents to have a library card.

In Indiana, non-resident library cards are available for a fee to individuals living in townships outside of any library taxing district. These cards allow non-residents the same access to services that resident card holders have by paying an amount at least equal to what the average resident pays within a library's taxing district. Contracts are often set up with some townships to cover all or a portion of the fee. Currently, there is no existing contract between Lincoln Township and a public library in White County, so residents of Lincoln must pay full non-resident card fees to White County Libraries. Non-resident cards are good for one year. The 2025 non-resident library card fee at Monticello-Union Township Public Library is $80. The grant will cover $35 of the fee and the individual will pay $45. This opportunity will be available until the grant funds are depleted.
